Amarok: A Great Open Source Project and a Good Cause
My favorite music player and one of my favorite open source projects, Amarok, is having a fund raiser during the month of "Roktober." They need donations for their servers and to fund continued development of what is a truly great player.
I know that a few of you are KDE/Linux users, which means that you (like me) are undoubtably using Amarok. If you pony up with a donation of at least $10 US, then you're eligible for the iPod Giveaway.

I used to LOVE Amarok. But, at the time, it was pretty crashy in gnome... and when its database crashed out on me for the third time, and I had to remove all sign of it from my machine (and everything KDE) for the third time before I could reinstall it again, I just stopped using it. I was still part of the amarok last.fm community before about a week ago though. Good people.
The version of Rhythmbox that came with dapper is pretty good too though. I miss the lyrics and wikipedia stuff still...

Emily,
I'm using the KDE desktop, and Amarok is extremely stable. The only times I've had problems with crashing have been when I moved my entire library from my Windows share into my Linux home directory (I have a dual boot box so I can game).
As you know, I've used Gnome before; I think that KDE is far superior, and it's got the eye candy that I crave.
